Mike Miller
Mike Miller’s road to stardom began in Mitchell, SD where he led the Mitchell Kernels to two State basketball titles before taking his talents to the University of Florida where he further solidified his reputation as a “Big Time” player, leading Florida to the NCAA National Championship in 2000.
Mike began his NBA Career with the Orlando Magic as they drafted him the 5th overall pick in the 2000 NBA draft. Mike came out shooting and scoring which earned him the NBA Rookie of the Year in 2001. Mike was selected to play on the US Olympic basketball team which participated in the Good Will games in Brisbane, Australia.
“Skinny” as we know him in South Dakota, has matured into one of the best shooters in the NBA. Mike was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies in 2002, where he has taken his game to the next level again. In the 2006 season Mike was selected as the NBA Sixth Man of the Year, after his wonderful performance of 13.9 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 2.7 apg and shot 40.7% from behind the arc.
In 2007, Mike has taken his performance up another notch averaging 18.8 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 4.3 apg and was selected to participate in the NBA All-Star Three-Point Shooting contest during the NBA All-Star weekend.
Mike is very involved in the Memphis community with his Mike Miller Foundation, as well as, many charities and communities here in South Dakota.
