Chad Greenway - Minnesota Vikings

Greenway suffered a season ending knee injury in his first game as a Viking in the pre-season in 2006 and spent the entire season rehabbing and preparing for the 2007 season. The wait and preparation paid bid dividends for Greenway and the Vikings. Greenway in virtually his rookie season was 3rd in total tackles on the Vikings with 105 (78 solo tackles and 27 assisted tackles) while helping the Viking to be one of the best defenses in the NFL He also had two fumble recoveries and two interceptions taking one back for a 37 yard TD. Chad quickly became a fan and team favorite for his energetic and aggressive style of play on the field and his caring and playful demeanor and talents off the field.

Greenway became first player ever selected by the Vikings in the first round from Iowa and only the sixth LB ever drafted in the first round in team history...Also is the first LB ever from Iowa to be selected in the 1st round of the NFL Draft...Joins fellow Vikings LB Ben Leber (Vermillion) and Colts' K Adam Vinatieri (Rapid City) as the only current players in the NFL from South Dakota...Selected with the 17th overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft and was the third LB taken, behind only A.J. Hawk (5th-Green Bay) and Ernie Sims (9th-Detroit).

Chad, a two-time All-Big 10 selection who finished career ranked 5th in school history with 416 tackles...Started 38 of the 45 games he played in during his career...Recorded at least 10 tackles in a game 25 times during his collegiate career...His 156 tackles as a senior in '05 rank third in school history, trailing only Andre Jackson (171 in 1972) and Abdul Hodge (158 in 2005).
