Mike Miller - Memphis Grizzlies
Mike is quietly having one of the best years of his career, even though the Grizzlies have struggled a bit this season. He’s averaged 16.9 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 3.6 apg and is shooting 43.3% from behind the arc and 51% inside the arc. Mike is also one of the privilege members of the US Olympic team which will compete at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China. Mike Miller’s road to stardom began in Mitchell, SD where he led the Mitchell Kernels to two State basketball titles before taking his talents to the University of Florida where he further solidified his reputation as a "Big Time" player, leading Florida to the NCAA National Championship in 2000. Mike began his NBA Career with the Orlando Magic as they drafted him the 5th overall pick in the 2000 NBA draft. Mike came out shooting and scoring which earned him the NBA Rookie of the Year in 2001. Mike was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies in 2002, where he has improved his game each and every season. In the 2006 season Mike was selected as the NBA Sixth Man of the Year, after his wonderful performance of 13.9 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 2.7 apg and shot 40.7% from behind the arc. In 2007, Mike has taken his performance up another notch averaging 18.8 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 4.3 apg and was selected to participate in the NBA All-Star Three-Point Shooting contest during the NBA All-Star weekend.
He’s not only succeeding on the court but is very involved in his community efforts off the court, both in Memphis and in South Dakota. His Mike Miller Foundation, as well as, many charities and communities here in South Dakota have benefited from Mike’s generosity. He and his wife Jennifer gave $1,000,000 to the Sanford Children’s Hospital for the Intensive Care Unit this past year.
