Who We Are

The Hy-Vee/Sanford Legends promotes the physical well-being for our youth of today, as well as generations to come.

The Legends is a partnership between two of the community’s major organizations (Hy-Vee and Sanford) who strive and encourage our kids to be the very healthiest they can be.

The Hy-Vee and Sanford Legends wants every child to have the opportunity to participate in wellness programs and strive to be a healthier generation than the last.

Every year the Legends Grant Program gives back thousands of dollars to help build our local teams, facilities, and much more.

It is through the great sacrifices and generosity of our sponsors, coaches, and volunteers giving their time and talents that the Legends events have been able to continue to grow and give back so much more than they have received over our existence.

Our mission started and remains today, the one model which makes us strive for excellence every day, “It’s All About the Kids!”

Our mission is to play a part in providing our area’s youth with the tools and confidence to help them make the right decisions in life. We believe that sports can play a healthy role in their lives by teaching self discipline, teamwork, leadership, and strategic thinking skills while building self-confidence. To provide our youth with the opportunity to experience the positive influence of sports, we provide an annual event where our youth can gather for FREE specialized training in multiple sports.

The sessions will be conducted by professional athletes and the region’s best college and high school coaches who have been recognized as positive role models on and off the field. Parents and coaches will also be able to participate in clinics designed to help them further understand their role as mentors, while sharpening their coaching skills.

Hy-Vee and Sanford have partnered together to create one of the biggest fundraisers for youth in the entire region. The Legends Banquet has been a major factor in bringing the community together to raise money for local youth. Whether it is the Celebrities, the philanthropy, the live or silent auction items, or dinner with friends, the Legends Banquet draws one of the biggest annual crowds for a remarkable purpose. Come be a part of this great cause and help all of us celebrate and remember “It’s all about the Kids.”

Come be a part of this special event with us! This year tickets will only be sold at the door on the night of the event unless you wish to become a sponsor and in that case see our sponsorship page. The doors open at 5:00 p.m. and the silent auction, with hundreds of great items, begins right away. The night will be full of live music, videos, celebrity interviews, prizes and much more. Make sure you get there in time for the introduction of the athletes at 6:30 p.m. and the dinner at 7:00 p.m. Our most exciting part of the night, the live auction, begins at 8:00 p.m. and is followed by the celebrity interviews that you do not want to miss. The night will be jammed packed with food, excitement, celebrities, and great opportunities for you to support a great cause. Make sure and remember “It’s All About the Kids!”

In 2012, we instituted a new autograph policy designed to keep our celebrity athletes wanting to recommend our event to other athletes.

  • FREE Clinic Autographs – Based on the fact we would like our celebrity guests to participate, teach, and interact with the kids during the FREE Clinics, we will now be handing out a pre-signed autographed photo at the conclusion of ALL of the FREE Clinics. No other items will be available for signature.
  • Legends Banquet – VIP Area – We will designate 5:15 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. at the banquet for autographs. ONLY Championship, Hall of Fame, and presenting level sponsors will have the limited access to the autograph area during this time. All sponsors will have one (1) autograph ticket per athlete (no exceptions). Presenting and Hall of Fame sponsors will have slightly more autograph tickets.
  • We will have a limited number of baseballs, footballs, and basketballs FOR PURCHASE as well.
